poem \"One More Chance\"

One More Chance --11.10.05 Thurs--
A clear blue sky above,
A sparkling opportunity beneath;
Climbing onto his throne on top of the waves;
His children's eyes following.
Surrounded by friends and family alike,
The mistakes fall away as he gives in;
His place atop the clouds,
Outlined by her young eyes.

Years pass by;
Full of laughter and sorrow;
Memories made-- lived-- enjoyed;
Softly the tunes carry over,
Blending together the loves lost;
Blending together their difference of opinion;
Separating the mistakes between.

Weather changes mix the mini banter of two;
Combining together in one solid tune;
In his eyes they grow up quickly;
Children always his to the day they die.
Red outlines the troubles between;
But blood proves thicker when in need.
Days go by-- some better-- some worse;
All the while his children learn.

Summer days of heat and friends;
Followed closely by news less welcomed-in.
True days of struggle lie ahead;
But they never falter to show their love.
Times once past now set the tune,
As one chance is shown anew.
Through their laughter and their tears,
They find resolution for so many bitter years.

Past ghosts leave in peace,
Only to occasionally show the old whines;
Lessons learned ache to be applied,
As they learn the truth;
As they learn to live through the days,
Both long and tried.
Desperate for peace but never leaving,
She seeks the comfort only he can give.

His place atop the clouds only tarnished partly;
She learns to forgive even more.
Handed the future without her life,
She faught against the blackest strife.
Given over to a successful deed,
They were brought together through a simple need.

Darkness once clouding her mind,
She found her place before his seat;
Watched him climp atop once more;
Their eyes-- his children-- never forgetting.
His eyes shone strength and knew her fear,
But he never let it in to bear;
He kept his head if only for them,
Desperate to show them happiness.

The years may pass an uncertain future,
But his love and guidance reaches past;
Their love forever unwavering;
His throne outlined in her eyes forever.
His teachings hardly forgotten;
She'll always know he's watching;
He's proud of the life they live;
He's proudest of the days they give.

Autumn's sun reaches past,
Filled with distant times of glee;
Reminders of so many distant days;
Reminders of his favorite ways.
All around her-- she finds him,
In everything-- she does for him.

No matter the future or the past,
The years or the last;
She'll always be his daughter;
She'll alwayss know his voice;
She'll always know his laughter,
And his favorite toys.

In all the things that she may do,
She hopes to make him proud;
He'll always know she did her best,
And he'll always love her through the rest;
And for her he'll always want the very best,
And to feel his love forever after.

With his children's eyes always following closely;
They know not the future,
They only know their past;
But every day is a mystery,
And every day is just one more chance.
