poem \"Interim Utterances of Mortality\"

Interim Utterances of Mortality --09.28.05 Wednesday--
Infantile in his movements,
And roughened around the edges,
His thoughts subjected to another time;
He looks to the past,
While surviving in the future;
Seeing only those things that
Time had surely changed,
With glimpses of modern thought
Sprinkled lightly between.
Time's ages slowly erase a past,
Known only to those that may survive;
All the while trudging on to another day.
Societal views only realized haphazardly,
He grasps his iron will weakly;
Only in memory of those he brought forth,
Will whispers of his law remain.
Once his oyster,
Now his enemy,
The clock ticks away the years;
Slowling binding away the tears.
Forgotten ways now cracked by forgiveness
Litter the path he made;
Around him,
Still;
His memoir surfaces;
Guiding those once cast astray.
